Research Abstract

平成21年度は引き続きニワトリ雛(ヒヨコ)を対象として、実験心理学的に統制された行動実験を実施し、動物の移動投資量に及ぼす競争採餌の効果を検討した。更に、競争の社会的要因を分離する目的で、生物的運動(Biological motion, BM)の視覚弁別に関する行動実験を実施し、以下の一連の知見を得た。(1)ヒヨコは量に関するリスクを嫌い、遅延に関するリスクを選好した。よって、量と遅延は表象として独立しており、価値は一元化されていない。(2)競争採餌は遅延に基づく選択を亢進したが、競争による収益の棄損を経験する必要はなかった。同署で採餌する他者を視覚的に認めるだけで、衝動性の亢進が生じた。(3)競争採餌は更に索餌のための運動量(歩行速度)を上昇させることが分かった。競争的他者を視覚的に認めるだけで十分であり、やはり実際の収益の棄損を経験させる必要はない。(4)孵化直後の視覚的経験の全くないヒヨコはBMへの選好性を示さないが、刻印付けトレーニングを施したヒヨコは明確なBM選好性を示すようになった。トレーニングで提示する視覚刺激はBM性を備える必要はなく、ランダムに動く光点の集合でも同様の効果が見出された。生得的な鋳型が備わっていると結論できる。これらの結果から、ヒヨコには社会的文脈を取りこんで採餌決定を適応的に修飾する機構が生得的に組み込まれていると推定される。
