Research Abstract

カーボンナノチューブ(CNT)は、その物性が構造に依存していることがよく知られており、その精緻な応用には物性の制御された、即ち、構造の制御されたカーボンナノチューブが必要となる。そのような背景から、報告者らは構造の制御されたCNTを得ることを目的に、分子認識を利用した方法論をデザインし、現在、検討を進めている。具体的には、CNTとピンセット型ジポルフィリン化合物からなる超分子を鍵とする、CNTの可溶化、ならびに、それに伴うCNTの構造選別である。
当研究グループでは、これまでにm-phenylene, pyridilene, carbazolyleneをスペーサーとするピンセット型ジポルフィリンを設計、合成し、単層カーボンナノチューブ(SWNTs)の抽出を行い、上記ピンセッツ型分子がSWNTsの右巻き、左巻きを識別し、光学活性SWNTsを与えることを明らかにしてきた。また、このピンセット型分子は、巻き方のみならず、直径をも識別することも見出した。
平成21年度の検討では、上記のジポルフィリン化合物より合成が簡便なモノポルフィリン化合物でも、SWNTの選択的な抽出が可能であることも明らかとなった(N.Komatsu et al., J.Phys.Chem.C, 2008)。本検討においては、より大きな直径を有するSWNTが優先的に抽出された。その光学純度は、上記のピンセット型ジポルフィリンを用いた場合に、近い値を示した。また、これまで用いてきたCoMoCATのSWNTに代え、HiPCO-SWNTを用いたところ、これもうまく抽出され、光学活性体が得られた。
今後は、この2年間で得られた成果に基づき、さらなるスペーサーの検討やポルフィリン中心金属の最適化などを行い、光学純度の向上や直径の選別能の向上を図る。
