Research Abstract |
Plasmodium vivax PvSTP2 was detected more abundantly than PvSTP1 at the transcription and translation level. PvSTP2 was located on the parasite-infected erythrocyte surface and colocalized with a Schuffner's dots, dot-like structure observed beneath the parasite-infected erythrocyte membrane. Positive diversifying selection was detected on PvSTP1 gene locus and many Vivax malaria patients possessed antibodies against PvSTP1 or PvSTP2.
