Research Abstract |
In this study, I conducted of the isolation and characterization of candidate genes for caffeine synthase in Citrus species. When I performed in silico screening against Citrus EST database, six candidate genes for caffeine synthase were obtained. Subsequently those genes were investigated fully, a suspected gene in relation to caffeine biosynthesis was found. Furthermore, I identified and characterized of the two genes respectively encoding the enzymes for the methylation of salicylate and jasmonate.
