Research Abstract |
In this study, we try to show how Japanese images were absorbed, accepted, and mythologized in France, England, Germany and America in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Although this Kaken project may seem diffuse in its focus, it surely offers some useful findings for future discussion on the influence of Japan, Japanese arts, and the Japanese people upon these four countries more than a century ago.
