Research Abstract |
In its response to the globalization of the 21st century, literature in English has been stimulated by postcolonial criticism on the one hand, and so-called translation studies motivated by multiculturalism has shifted its main focus from linguistic concern to the cultural critique on the other. This project aimed at pinpointing the mutual relationships between postcolonial criticism and translation studies through which the possibilities of literary translation have been illuminated. The postcolonial concern with discourses of the cultural/political minorities has motivated re-reading/writing history from the viewpoint of "the Other" which is of crucial importance in modern literature in translation.
