Research Abstract |
From its domain organization, phy3 seems to have same signal processing mechanisms as phototropins. As some amino acid residues that are important for its functions of phototropins are conserved in phy3, mutations were introduced into these residues of phy3 and transferred into Arabidopsis phot1phot2. These transgenic plants showed similar phototropic responses to the Arabidopsis expressing wild-type phy3; therefore, phy3 might have signal processing mechanisms different from one's of phototropins.
