Research Abstract |
To control root parasitic weeds like Orobanche and Striga severely damaged to agricultural production in both tropical and subtropical areas, new seed germination stimulants were discovered on the basis of a study on the structure-biological activity relationship of strigolactones, chemical transmitters in rhizosphere. Trial on the practical use of the chemicals as a suicidally inducing seed germination stimulant is underway.
