Research Abstract |
HTLV-1 infection is established through the tight interaction between HTLV-1 infected cells and target cells, so called the virological synapse. In this study, we found that PDZ domain containing cell polarity proteins Dlg1 and MPP7 play a crucial role in the HTLV-1 cell-to-cell infection. We also found that a HTLV-1 receptor GLUT-1 functions through its interaction with PDZ domain containing proteins.
