Research Abstract |
Protective effects of nerustroids including estrogens on cochlear injury induced by ototoxic agents were reported. Estrogens protected the cochlea via c-jun-N-terminal kinase pathway. Dehydroepiandrosterone exhibited the protective effects against aminoglycoside ototoxicity. Protective effects of gagliosides and sphingosine-1-phosphate were also reported. However, ceramide exacerbated the cochlear injury induced by animoglycosides.
