Research Abstract |
D-allose exerts growth inhibitory effects on head and neck cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. The combination of D-allose and radiation significantly induced intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and apoptosis compared to that induced by either agent alone. The sugar may act as an anti-proliferative agent via TXNIP induction and thus be useful as a novel anticancer drug.
