Research Abstract

Activated macrophages formed subretinal fibrosis when they were placed in the subretinal space and induce myofibrotic changes in RPE cells. The major factors to form fibrosis were IL-6 and MCP-1. We confirmed the in vivo blocking of IL-6 and MCP-1 reduced subretinal fibrosis and might be beneficial to maintain visual acuity in CNV-related diseases.
