Research Abstract |
We examined whether SP cells isolated from mouse salivary glands possess stem cell activity or not. Consequently, it was clarified that SP cells had no characteristics of stem cell, such as quiescence and potential of reconstituting glands. In addition, by analysis of their surface marker antigens, SP cells derived from salivary glands, which we had expected as a salivary epithelial cell lineage, were determined to be a mesenchymal cell lineage.
