Research Abstract

ヒトは複数身体部位の運動を組み合わせて、多様な複合運動を構成する能力を備えている。我々はこれまでの片腕・両腕運動を対象とした研究により「素過程(各腕を動かす脳内過程)が組み合わされて、複合運動(両腕運動)が構成される」という、両腕運動研究が拠り所としていた常識的な概念が誤りであることを明らかにしてきた。この「両腕運動を構成する右腕(左腕)運動は、片腕運動としての右腕(左腕)運動とは異なっている」という新しい描像を研究の出発点として設定すると、両腕運動制御の問題は単なる「協調」の問題だけに留まらず、その一見非効率な構造の機能的意義、構造の脳内表象、構造が運動学習過程に及ぼす影響、など多様かつ本質的に重要な問題を含んでいることが分かる。ロボットアームを用いた心理物理的実験、脳機能イメージング、片麻痺患者の調査、数学的モデル構築などの方法を用いて、これらの問題を解決し、両腕運動が構成・制御される原理解明を目指す。
