Research Abstract |
The ever-growing practice of 'sport for development' has seen more advanced progress globally, in relation to the capacity building for human and social development, than in Japan, where it has been limited to mere sport development or personal experience of JOCV volunteers. The case studies in South Africa suggested that the mega event triggered a number of short-term initiatives, while some small NGOs may have benefitted from networking between organizations.
