Research Abstract |
This study has showed the aspects of opposition and coexistence in the French town, Lyons, where two thirds of the population came from outside of the city wall, mainly from Italy, through the analysis of relationships with religious and sociopolitical others in the middle of the sixteenth century. 1) Legal and social position of the foreigners. 2) The role of "nations" consisting of people from the same homeland. 3) Italian's strategies for building personal networks and rising status. 4) From the Civil War to the coexistence in the town
