Research Abstract |
This study analyzes the expense-preference model for the public hospitals in Japan, using data of 2004-2006 fiscal years. We found that (i) technical inefficiency in unprofitable area is 6.5%, which is very low ; (ii) allocative inefficiency estimates imply over-equipment of sample hospitals.
