Research Abstract |
Shoot architecture largely depends on leaf initiation pattern at shoot apical meristem (phyllotaxy). I identified recessive mutants, decussate (dec), affecting phyllotactic pattern in rice. Map-based cloning of DEC, genetic and physiological studies of dec mutants revealed that DEC regulates phyllotactic pattern by a novel cytokinin signaling pathway.
