Research Abstract |
Recent studies suggests that tumors arise from cancer stem cells. Here, we focused on a membrane-anchored growth factor, Amphiregulin (AREG), which is thought to be expressed in side-population (SP) of hepatocyte cell line, Huh7. We identified AREG-regulating protein (ARP), whose expression is also detected in Huh7 SP. ARP promotes the production of soluble AREG (N-terminal fragment of AREG), thus might be involved in the cell cycle regulation of hepatocyte stem cell regulation.
