Research Abstract |
We have proved that active vitamin D and its analogue 22-oxacalcitriol protect podocytes from injury in puromycin aminonucleoside induced nephrosis rats. Because podocyte injuries and resultant proteinuria are major risk factors in chronic kidney disease (CKD), our finding provides new therapeutic strategy for the prevention of CKD.
