Research Abstract |
This study tested, using a psychostimulant animal model, called longitudinal progressive model and treatment responsive model, and an NMDA receptor antagonist model, called transactional model and treatment resistant model in schizophrenia, the effect of electro convulsive therapy(ECT). The present study showed that ECT had effects to prevent these drugs-induced behavioral and histological changes, suggesting that ECT might block the progressive pathophysiology in schizophrenia.
