Research Abstract	セルジューク朝の宗主権下にあったザンギー朝が12世紀シリアの政治体制の変化に果たした役割の検証を、シリアの小都市に焦点をあわせ文献研究と現地調査により行なった。奇襲や包囲などの戦術が中心であった中世シリアに関して農業を含めた地勢学的検討は有効であった。シリアの小都市の利害とザンギーの政策が一致したことがザンギーのシリアでの領域獲得と所領経営を容易にしたこと、またジャジーラにおけるアルトゥク朝への重層的支配との相違などを明らかにした。
