Research Abstract |
I studied the regulation of Na^+/Ca^<2+> exchanger (NCX) and mitochondrial dynamics during ischemia-reperfusion in the heart. I concluded that a selective inhibition of plasmalemmal NCX but not mitochondrial NCX appears to be a promising therapeutic strategy for myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury.
