Research Abstract |
ATP is major chemical transmitter in purinergic signal transmission, and vesicular nucleotide transmitter (VNUT) is responsible for ATP uptake by vesicle. I investigated localization and function of VNUT. VNUT is localized to various tissues existed in ATP signaling. Especially, in hippocampal neurons ATP is released from excitatory and inhibitory nerve terminals depend on VNUT. Thus, ATP may play a role of modulator in synaptic transmission.
