Outline of Research at the Start

高速、高密度、大容量、低消費電力の情報デバイスは、ユビキタス・IoT化社会で重要な役割を果たしている。本研究では、数nmと極めて小さくかつ安定性の高い磁気スキルミオンに着目し、その特徴を活かした高速・高密度集積可能な論理演算素子・メモリ素子の基礎を目的とする。デバイスの超低消費電力化への利用が期待される電界によるスキルミオンの生成・駆動・消滅を実現する本研究は独創性であると言える。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、ナノスケールのトポロジカルスピンテクスチャに着目し、トポロジカルスピン構造の超低消費電力な駆動手法並びにその室温、ゼロ磁界での安定性、電流、電圧駆動特性を明らかにして、高密度・高速なメモリー、論理素子への応用ための基盤構築である。代表出来なトポロジカルスピンテクスチャは磁気スキルミオンである。
2022年度では、磁気スキルミオンをメモリー・論理素子への応用の目的として、磁性多層膜の局所領域の磁気異方性の制御によって、磁気スキルミオン障壁の形成が成功した。この磁気スキルミオン障壁の特徴として、磁気スキルミオンが近付けると反発力を受ける。そのため、磁気スキルミオンが回路の側から保護され、事前に設計した回路内に安定に移動することができる。この結果はNano Letters 21 (10), 4320-4326(2021)に掲載された。
オートマトンは、入力と状態遷移制御が与えられた場合にその動作をトレースできる人工知能の基礎である。ここでは、磁気スキルミオンを画素のように制御する方法を提案し、その動作制御による状態遷移をシミュレーションで確認した。すなわち、磁気スキルミオン・オートマトンの可能性を確認でき、トポロジカルスピンテクスチャのAIへの応用を広げた。この結果はCommunications Physics 4 (1), 1-9 (2021)に掲載された。
本年度では、本研究の関連成果をNano letters, Communications Physics, Physical Review B, Applied Physics Lettersなど学術論文誌に論文9本が掲載された。
