Outline of Research at the Start

雲中の乱流による乾燥・湿潤空気及び熱の混合と揺らぎの統計法則,エアロゾル輸送と雲粒子の生成・成長から雨粒子形成,雲粒子による乱流変調など雲マイクロ物理過程の全貌をサブμmから数mm,数mmから数mにわたる大規模シミュレーションを駆使して統一的な視点から解明する.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

雲粒子と湿潤空気乱流との相互作用を解析する各種プログラムの高速化を図った。さらに、雲粒子生成の核となるエアロゾルの乱流輸送、雲粒子成長の源である過飽和度の乱流混合輸送について、理論および大規模シミュレーションを駆使した解析を行った。
乱流運動を解析するベクトルマシン用のプログラムでは、キャッシュ利用の高効率化、ベクトル演算効率の向上、スレッド並列の個数の最適化を図ることにより約2倍以上の高速化が達成された。また、シミュレーションコードのGPGPU化を行った。乱流と雲粒子との相互作用計算においては、粒子位置での速度場補間に2次精度補間を導入し、雲粒子の凝結成長計算では陰的解法を導入して計算精度の向上を図った。さらに、雲中の氷と乱流との相互作用を解析するための数値計算法の高精度化が進んだ。
雲粒子のラグランジュ統計量に対する重力沈降の影響を解析した。雲粒子の終端速度が大きいほどラグランジュ相関時間が短くなり、終端速度Vtと乱流速度揺らぎu'との比Sv=Vt/u'が重要であることが分かった。
乱流の特性時間と過飽和度の相変化の特性時間の比(ダムケラ数)によって、過飽和度揺らぎスペクトルには2つのk^{-5/3}スペクトルが存在する。これを検証するために、雲乱流中の速度場と過飽和度のLESモデルを開発し揺らぎスペクトルを計算した。過飽和度揺らぎについては通常の渦粘性モデルには修正が必要なこと、そして2つのk^{-5/3}スペクトルが存在することを示す結果を得た。
3月14,15日に5th International Workshop on Cloud Turbulence, 16日に Satellite Workshop on High Reynolds Number Turbulence をハイブリッド形式で開催した。国内外から多数の参加者があり、活発な意見交換を行った。

Reason

雲乱流プログラムは乱流計算部分と雲粒子追跡とその動力学計算部分からなるが、いずれも計算負荷が非常に大きい。これまでにもプログラムのチューニングを行ってきたが。今年度は高速化に大きな進展があった。より多様なパラメータについて雲乱流と雲粒子の性質を調べることが可能になった。
計算効率の向上により、雲粒子のラグランジュ統計量、過飽和度揺らぎスペクトルなどの計算をより大規模に行うことができ、理論との比較検証が進んでいる。さらには、将来を見据えてプログラムのGPGPU化が進展している。
過飽和度ゆらぎに対するLESコード、雲粒子集団の水質量揺らぎスペクトルの新たな計算手法が開発されて雲乱流理論との比較が進展し国内外の学会、論文誌で発表されている。さらには、2つの国際ワークショップをハイブリッド形式で開催し、本研究成果を国内外の研究者に周知し相互交流の進展を確認した。
これらのことから、本研究は順調に進展していると判断する。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

キャッシュ、スレッド数、粒子データの交換の仕方に着目して、プログラムのチューニングをさらに進める。過飽和度のLESモデルはいまだ発展途上にある。乱流スペクトル理論を駆使してLESモデルの改良と検証を行う。格子サイズで阻止化した雲粒子モデルとその周囲の過飽和度のランジュバンモデルの改良を進める。雲粒子成長において乱流の微細スケールでの揺らぎは重要であることから、乱流中のエネルギー散逸率、エンストロフィー(渦度の2乗)、温度および過飽和度の散逸率の間欠性を解析する。特にこれらの確率密度関数のレイノルズ数依存性について理論および大規模シミュレーションにより解析する。
また、これまでの成果を論文としてまとめ発表する。
