Outline of Research at the Start

自己組織化材料に関する種々の研究が盛んに行われている中で、他とは一線を画する新しいソフトマテリアルとして申請者が開発した「自励振動高分子／ゲル」を基盤とし、生体のように自律的な機能を有する新たな高分子材料システムを構築する。「分子設計による自己集合の制御」という観点だけでなく、時間構造を含み「材料の中に散逸構造を作り出すシステムデザインによりユニークな機能を創出する」4D材料設計概念を提唱し、自律機能材料としてその基盤研究を推進する。時空間構造をもつ4Dソフトマテリアルとしての新しい学理を創出するとともに、将来的にメカノバイオロジーによる医療の高度化やマイクロロボット開発等への貢献を目指す。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

種々の機能や物性を持つ高分子ゲルの研究が盛んに行われている中で、自律機能を持つ新しいソフトマテリアルとして、心筋の拍動のように一定条件下で自発的に周期的リズム運動を行う高分子ゲル(自励振動ゲル)を開発した。分子設計による自己集合の制御という観点だけでなく、時間構造を含み「材料の中に散逸構 造を作り出すシステムデザインによりユニークな機能を創出する4D材料設計概念」を提唱し、自律機能材料としてその基盤研究を推進している。本研究では、自励振動ゲルの更なるバイオミメティック材料への展開について研究を行っている。自励振動高分子を基盤とする自律機能材料の力学特性評価・発現機構解明、構造制御された自励振動ブロック共重合体の周期的構造相転移の解明、自律的にゾル－ゲル振動するアメーバのような高分子溶液の創製とその巨視・微視的解析、酸および酸化剤供給部位を有する生体環境駆動型自励振動ゲルの化学構造設計、などの点から研究を進める。

Reason

より生体に近い材料すなわち有機酸の供給のみで駆動する材料の実現を目指し、酸化剤およびプロトンの自己供給能を有する新規の自励振動ブロックコポリマー(BCP)の構造設計を行った。架橋剤を用いたRAFT重合誘起自己組織化(RAFT-PISA)により、シェルにマクロCTA、化学架橋されたコアにプロトン供給部位が配置された架橋コアシェル型BCPの合成実験を行った。その結果、架橋コアシェル型BCPのコアにBZ反応および自律的な構造振動を駆動するためのプロトン供給能があることが示された。また複数の自励振動ゲルが接着された異方性自励振動ゲルシステムに関する検討を行い、異方性体積振動挙動はRu(bpy)3修飾部位の面積とベースゲルの物性を変えることで調節できることも実験的に証明した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

所望の架橋コアシェル型粒子が合成可能となるRAFT-PISA条件の探索を継続する。またより複雑なゲルのパターニングと各部位の相互作用解析を行い、よりLife-Likeな自律ソフトマシン創製について更なる検討を進める。
