Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
This joint research project took an interdisciplinary approach to the cultural history of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) during the Cold War. Although some plans had to be changed due to the impact of COVID-19 and political circumstances, the project collected and organized materials that had not been actively used before, constructed the Korea Literature Database (KBDB), and established an international foundation for future research. In collaboration with the Institute of Humanities at Doshisha University, we held a total of 26 seminars. We organized public academic events both domestically and internationally to promote international research exchange. Through the publication of two special issues in academic journals and the release of a book that garnered significant attention both domestically and internationally, we achieved our initial goal of establishing a new trend in DPRK cultural history originating from Kyoto.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
