Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
This study developed a inexpensive personal support device designed to enable simple and accurate EEG measurement in individuals with severe motor and intellectual disabilities(SMIDs). As a basic study, we developed a 3D head scan and a fabrication technique for a personalized EEG electrode support device for healthy adult. We developed a cap to accurately measure the head shape, performed a 3D head scan, and output the designed personalized support device with a 3D printer. As a result, the time required to attach the electrodes was reduced and the position reproducibility was high compared to existing EEG electrode caps. Based on this fabrication technique, we developed personal EEG electrode support devices for SMID individuals. For SMID individuals, a low-burden 3D head scanning method using a smartphone was employed. Although some issues remained with the scanning method, we were able to produce a personalized support device tailored to their living posture.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
