Outline of Research at the Start

大気圧低温プラズマ複合プロセスによる舶用ディーゼルエンジンの排気完全無害化技術を実現する反応プロセスの解明,新規開拓と排ガス処理装置のシステム化を行う。舶用ディーゼルエンジンにおいては,燃料に硫黄を含む重油が使用されるため,排気完全無害化は困難である。本研究では,硫黄の影響の無い,優位性の高いプラズマ複合プロセスを用いた排ガス浄化をテーマとし,炭酸ガス還元燃料化特性,微粒子状物質及び窒素酸化物浄化特性を実験と数値シミュレーションにより解明する。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

Elucidation, new development, and systematization of the reaction process that realizes the exhaust gas detoxification technology for marine diesel engines by atmospheric-pressure low temperature nonequilibrium plasma hybrid process are performed. In marine diesel engines, heavy oil containing sulfur is used as fuel, so the catalyst deteriorates due to SOx in the exhaust gas, making it difficult to use catalysts for exhaust gas purification except for some materials. In this study, experiments and numerical simulations are conducted to clarify the CO2 reduction for fuel conversion and NOx reduction characteristics of the highly superior plasma hybrid process that is not affected by SOx.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

化石燃料燃焼装置からの排ガス浄化のために,白金,金,銀,パラジウムなどの貴金属やレアメタルが広く用いられているが,価格高騰など早晩の不足が予想されている。また,本研究が対象とする船舶ディーゼルにおいては,燃料に硫黄を含む重油が使用されるため,排ガス中SOxによる触媒劣化が生じ,排ガス浄化に触媒を使用することが困難である。本研究では大気圧プラズマ複合排ガス処理プロセスを船舶ディーゼルエンジンに適用した。プラズマは高電圧高速立ち上がり超短幅ナノ秒パルス放電等により形成され,省エネルギーに形成できる。プラズマを排ガス中で発生させSOx含有排気の完全無害化技術が可能か否かを検討した斬新な研究である。
