Outline of Research at the Start

生活製品から生じる未規制の有機汚染物質を取り上げ、環境中の濃度、汚染物質の発生原因、野生生物への蓄積状況など水圏環境で進行する汚染過程を明らかにする。得られた知見をもとに、ヒトや野生生物への影響の大きさや今後の環境汚染の見通しを評価する。また今後の規制対象の必要性や代替物質の開発に有用な情報も発信する。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

The study focused on aromatic compounds, which are not regulated among water pollutants generated by products used in daily life, and clarified toxic effects when taken up by organisms and previously unknown sources of pollution.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

世界的な水質汚染の実態解明や浄化技術の開発が見込まれるほか、製品の残留基準の検討など汚染対策や製品改良に向けた取り組みの加速が期待される。
