Outline of Research at the Start

超立方体上の疑似ビリヤード・ダイナミクスを用いた計算機構(「超立方体計算」と呼ぶ)は、人工知能、機械学習、ニューラルネットワークなど多様な情報処理の基盤になる枠組みで、これまでにない超高速・超省電力のハードウェアを実現するアーキテクチャである。本研究申請では、①情報処理に有効なネットワーク構造・学習機構の構築により、超立方体計算の理論を確立する。②超立方体計算を集積回路に実装し、その効率的な回路構成法を確立する。③超立方体計算を基に、センサー情報処理、アクチュエータ制御、行動計画のシステムを構築し、その実用性を明らかにする。本研究により、新しい情報処理プラットフォームの構築に道筋をつける。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study, we successfully improved the navigation performance of home robots using a reservoir computing model based on predictive coding and reward-based learning. The proposed model utilizes emotion evaluation and episodic memory to reach the goal while avoiding obstacles efficiently. Additionally, electronic circuits implemented using the hypercube computing mechanism achieved efficient hardware implementation of large-scale neural networks. These achievements represent a significant step towards the practical application of service robots.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は、脳に着想を得たリザバー計算モデルを用いて、ロボットのナビゲーション性能を大幅に向上させました。この成果は、AIの計算資源や消費電力の削減に寄与し、効率的なロボット制御を実現する新たなアプローチを提供します。また、超立方体計算機構を基盤とする電子回路の実装により、複雑な組み合わせ最適化問題を高速かつ低消費電力で解決する手法を確立しました。これにより、社会における自律移動ロボットやサービスロボットの実用化が進み、日常生活の利便性向上に貢献することが期待されます。
