Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、火星圏への往復航行や外惑星到達に求められる40～50km/sの高い排気速度を目指し、過去に実施されたことの無い高い電圧（1～3kV）とサブテスラ級の強磁場を印加可能なホールスラスタシステムを実験的に評価して設計最適化を図る。本研究ではホールスラスタの静電的な加速機構に着目しており、本研究の成果を踏まえて更に放電電圧を高めることで排気速度を増加可能な、線形性の高い理想的な推進機の実現を目指す。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

宇宙活動が太陽系内そしてその外の領域へと拡張していくためには、宇宙機が軌道変換するための能力を一層向上させることが求められ、一例として火星圏への往復航行や外惑星への周回ミッションでは、宇宙機推進に対して40～50km/sまたはそれ以上の排気速度が必要となる。本研究では、実験的手法により高電圧ホールスラスタの排気速度と特性を評価し、排気速度40～50km/sが可能かどうかを直接的に検証することを目的としている。本年度は、高電圧ホールスラスタ実験を行う「初期試験フェーズ」の研究を継続し、ホールスラスタ実験・ホローカソード開発・探査システム検討のそれぞれについて前年度に引き続き成果が得られた。
ホールスラスタ実験では、通常のホールスラスタ動作である200-300Vでの特性（排気速度で13-14 km/s程度）に対して、高電圧動作として1,000V（最大で30 km/s）までの動作に成功した。2種類試作したスラスタのうち、狭窄化形状チャンネルについては従来のホールスラスタとは異なる新しい設計コンセプトの検証に成功し、高電圧時により高い排気速度が得られている。ホローカソードについては、10A以下でも安定動作が可能なモデルをホールスラスタ実験に適用した他、プラズマプローブと温度計測システムを利用した放電室内部診断による動作特性の解明が進んだ。また、外惑星探査のためのシステム検討では、地球から火星への軌道変換におけるホールスラスタの有用性を、スイングバイ利用時や化学推進を利用した場合との比較から定量的に明らかにした。
