Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では, 申請者らが世界で初めて開発に成功した原子分解能磁場フリー電子顕微鏡法をベースとして, 磁性材料の局所構造(界面, 粒界, 表面, 転位, 点欠陥等)における原子・電子構造と局所電磁場分布を実空間同時観察するための新たな電子顕微鏡法を開発し ,この手法を磁石材料, スピンデバイス, 鉄鋼材料, トポロジカル材料, セラミック材料などの局所界面構造解析に応用することで原子レベルの界面構造と磁性との相互作用メカニズムを解明することを目指す.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度は以下の項目について重点的に研究開発を行い、下記の成果を得た。

①Fe-Siの粒界原子構造解析:本年度は、Fe-SiのΣ9粒界の原子構造直接観察を行った。その結果、観察された粒界原子構造は先行研究で理論的に予測された最安定構造とは全く異なり、単純な周期をもたない非整合原子構であることを解明した。本結果は、Σ9粒界が有限温度において極めて低い粒界エネルギーを有する可能性を示唆する結果であり、電磁鋼板の組織形成過程において極めて重要な知見を与える成果である。
②フェライト系磁石におけるドメイン壁解析:本年度は、フェライト系磁石におけるドメイン壁の局所磁場観察を行い、添加元素の変化に伴うドメイン壁幅のナノスケールの変化を実験的に捉えることに成功した。この結果は、昨年度のNd系磁石の時と同様に酸化物磁石においても磁壁幅解析が局所磁気特性の評価に有効であることを示す成果である。
③スピンデバイスにおける局所磁性構造観察:本年度は、磁気トンネル接合(Magnetic Tunnel Junction: MTJ)デバイス磁性層中の磁場直接観察に成功し、ナノレベルの強磁性層における磁化の平行・反平行状態を直接観察できることを示した。この結果は、本開発手法がスピントロニクスデバイス研究開発においても有力であることを示す成果である。

Reason

本年度は計画した3つの項目について、いずれも計画通りに研究が進展し、特に①Fe-Siの粒界原子構造解析および③スピンデバイスにおける局所磁性構造観察に関しては査読付国際学術論文誌に論文発表を行った。①はNatureCommunicationsにおいて論文発表し、プレス発表も行った。よって、順調に研究が進展していると判断した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

今後は、磁場フリー電子顕微鏡を用いた応用研究を更に推進し、磁気スキルミオンの動的観察、磁石材料における磁区・磁壁解析、スピンデバイスにおける界面磁性構造解析、電磁鋼板粒界原子構造解析等を通じて磁性材料局所構造と磁気・磁区構造との相互作用メカニズムの本質的な解明を目指す。また、来年度は最終年度のため、これまでの研究内容を総括し、局所磁性構造の超高空間分解能直接観察手法の確立と新規磁性材料創成のための界面設計指針の構築を目指す。
