Outline of Research at the Start

フェリ磁性体は、2種類の磁気モーメントが反平行に結合しながらも正味の磁化を有する物質である。研究代表者らは、フェリ磁性GdFeCo合金が「磁化を持つ反強磁性体として振る舞う」ことを最近見いだした。本研究では、フェリ磁性体の「磁化を持つ反強磁性体」としての振る舞いの普遍性と多様性を明らかにし、「フェリ磁性スピントロニクス」という新しい学理を構築し、デバイス応用へ展開する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

フェリ磁性体は、2種類の磁気モーメントが反強磁性的に結合しながらも正味の磁化を有する物質である。磁化の大きさは組成や温度で調整可能で、2種類の磁気モーメントが完全に打ち消し合い反強磁性体のように磁化がゼロとなる状況も実現可能である。
研究代表者らは、フェリ磁性GdFeCo合金が「磁化を持つ反強磁性体として振る舞う」ことを最近見いだした。本研究では、フェリ磁性体の「磁化を持つ反強磁性体」としての振る舞いの普遍性と多様性を明らかにすることで、「フェリ磁性スピントロニクス」という新しい学理を構築し、デバイス応用へ展開することを目的とする。
本研究課題の核心をなす学術的「問い」は、フェリ磁性体の新しい側面「磁化を持つ反強磁性体としての振る舞い」は「普遍的なものか?」、そして「革新的デバイス応用へつながるか?」である。この学術的「問い」に答えるために、本研究では、(1)フェリ磁性体の磁化を持つ反強磁性体としての振る舞いの普遍性と多様性を明らかにするとともに、(2)その特徴を活かしたデバイス応用への展開を図ることで、フェリ磁性スピントロニクスの基盤を構築する。
本年度は、幅を空間的に変調した細線状デバイスに流した電流によるジュール加熱によって空間的な温度分布を作り出すことで、磁気補償によって磁化がゼロとなるナノスケールの領域を作り出すことができることを示し論文発表した。また、人工反強磁性体中のマグノンマグノン結合の定量測定を行い論文発表した。
