Outline of Research at the Start

重力波検出器で観測される重力波は非常に強い重力場での現象を起源とするため,重力波観測データの詳細な解析は,重力理論の検証において重要な役割を果たす.
本研究では,強重力場の現象の中でも「準固有振動」と呼ばれるブラックホール特有の運動に注目し,この運動から放出される重力波を効率よく,かつ高い精度で抽出するための新たな重力波データ解析手法を開発する.またこの解析手法を実際の観測データに適用することにより,一般相対性理論を代表とする重力理論の検証を行うとともに,量子重力理論など他の物理学分野との関連を見出すことを目指す.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の主な目的は,ブラックホールの準固有振動から放出される重力波波形を抽出するための新たなデータ解析手法として,「短時間ラプラス変換を用いた多次元写像解析」を開発することである.また,その手法を重力波観測データに適用して一般相対性理論の検証を行うとともに,他の物理学分野との関連を探ることである.その中でも2021年度は,上記のデータ解析手法の改良を主として行った.
ブラックホールの準固有振動による重力波波形は減衰正弦波となるが,その振動数と減衰定数の値は,ラプラス変換によって複素平面上の特異点として抽出される.しかし,データ解析によって特異点をあぶり出すためには「数値的な」ラプラス変換の実行が必要であり,その際には収束領域外において値が急激に増加することにより,特異点がぼやけるといった問題点が生じる.この点を克服するべくデータ解析手法の改良を行い,その結果として,ラプラス変換に適した規格化を行うことで特異点をより鮮明に抽出することが可能となった.また,データを短時間に区切ってラプラス変換を行うことにより,信号の時間発展を詳細に追跡できるよう工夫を施し,さらには雑音が存在する場合の考察も行った.これらにより得られた結果について,学会にて報告した.現在,これまでの成果をまとめた論文を準備中である.
また,重力波検出器KAGRAによって得られた観測データを公開するための研究・作業に従事し,結果的として2022年3月に一般公開されるに至った.
