Outline of Research at the Start

蛇紋岩は岩石力学的に脆弱であり、沈み込み帯等における地震活動を制約している。本研究では地震活動と断層挙動の理解に向け、理論計算と実験を通して蛇紋岩の摩擦特性の解明に取り組む。理論計算においては原子スケールの摩擦特性を非経験的に明らかにし理論的な摩擦特性の理解を目指す。実験においては純物質および天然断層物質の摩擦挙動およびその温度圧力依存性を明らかにし、天然断層における地震時の挙動の解明を試みる。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2022年度は以下の研究を実施した。
(1) 蛇紋岩鉱物の一種であるブルーサイトと近い結晶構造をもつギブサイトの理論計算の結果を査読付き英文国際誌American Mineralogistに投稿し、受理され、現在印刷中である。
(2) 変質玄武岩が沈み込み帯における地震発生帯で示す摩擦特性を調べた熱水実験の結果を論文にまとめ、査読付き英文国際誌Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth誌に投稿・受理され、Okuda et al. (2023)として2023年1月に掲載された。
(3) 火山ガラスと粘土鉱物の混合物に関する摩擦実験を進め、論文化をおこない、査読付き英文国際誌Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth誌に投稿、現在査読中である。
(4) 粘土鉱物の変質が断層挙動に与える影響を調べるため、南海トラフにおける原位置の温度・圧力・鉱物条件を再現した高温高圧摩擦実験を行った。その結果、スメクタイトがイライト化する反応は摩擦特性に影響を及ぼさないことが明らかとなった。この結果は現在エア毒付き英文国際誌への投稿を目指し、論文執筆中である。
