Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、計算に伴う消費エネルギーを無限小にすることが可能な可逆量子磁束パラメトロン(AQFP)回路を用いた超低消費エネルギー計算システムの実現を目的とする。大規模回路実現にむけたセルライブラリの構築、可逆論理回路の設計手法の確立、消費エネルギーの計算及び実証方法の検討を行うことで可逆計算システムの実現を目指す。可逆AQFP回路を用いた集積回路が半導体回路と比較して低消費エネルギーであることを数値計算と実験の両面から示す。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度では、超伝導集積回路である断熱量子磁束パラメトロン(AQFP)回路による可逆計算が可能な可逆AQFP回路を用いた超低消費エネルギー計算機の実現にむけたマイクロプロセッサの設計と消費エネルギーを測定するための大規模AQFP回路の設計を行った。
設計したマイクロプロセッサは、昨年度までに設計及び動作実証を行った算術論理演算器とレジスタファイルを組み合わせたものである。このマイクロプロセッサの消費エネルギーを数値計算を用いて計算した結果、従来の不可逆回路と比較して低消費エネルギーであることを確認した。これは、初年度に検討した回路本来の機能として関係ない可逆性を保証するために必要であるゴミ情報を消去した際に必要な消費エネルギーを見込んでも十分小さいことが確認できた。
AQFP回路が低消費エネルギーであることを実験的に示すために、AQFP回路の消費エネルギーを測定するための回路を設計した。AQFPゲート単体の消費エネルギーは非常に小さいため、それ自体を測定することは困難である。そこで、チップ内に多数のAQFPゲートを集積し、回路全体の消費エネルギーの測定を行うことでゲートあたりの消費エネルギーを見積もることを検討した。消費エネルギーは、AQFP回路が動作している場合と動作していない場合の電力を観測し、それらの差から算出することが可能である。現在回路の試作途中であり、回路が完成できしだい測定を行う予定である。
