Outline of Research at the Start

余剰汚泥や廃水などの廃棄物の処理はいつでも重要なものである。この研究では、廃水を深く処理し、低コストと環境に優しい方法で有機物と窒素を除去し、リンを回収する。また、廃水に有機物をAn-MBRという方法でメタンガスに生成し、さらに電力に転換し、エネルギーを節約あるいは創造できる。廃水に窒素をAnammoxという方法で除去し、湖沼など水体に富栄養化を避け、生物を守ることができる。世界中に少なくになっているリン資源も、この研究で廃棄物や廃水から小さい顆粒に形成させ、低コストで回収でき、持続可能社会を推進する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

連続流式一槽式HAP-PNAプロセスによる高負荷窒素含有人工排水の処理に関する実験的研究を行った。これらの連続実験は温度を25℃に固定して主に窒素濃度とHRTを変化させて窒素とリンの除去効果、グラニュール汚泥の特性、微生物の群集構造の変化を検討した。
窒素濃度を変化させた研究においては、HRT 12時間の条件で、流入水のアンモニア窒素濃度を300から1200 mg/Lに向上させて、窒素負荷2.4 g/L/dに高め、長期連続を行った。その結果、窒素除去率81%と窒素除去速度2.0 g/L/dが得られた。反応槽を安定的に維持するために、PRR/NRRを0.02以上になるすることは必要であることが分かった。
HRTを変化させた研究においては、流入アンモニア窒素濃度が500 mg/Lの条件で、HRTを12から2時間に短縮し、窒素負荷6g/L/dに上昇させて、長期連続を行った。その結果、窒素除去率80%と最高な窒素除去速度4.8 g/L/dが得られた。また、反応槽におけるグラニュール汚泥の沈殿性能SVIを7.8mL/g、微生物濃度を15 g/Lと高く維持することで、高い窒素除去能力を確保できた。なお、カルシウム濃度150mg/Lの条件で、90%のリン除去率が得られた。
本研究より、一槽式HAP-PNAプロセスは高い汚泥濃度を保持できたので、他の研究より優れた窒素除去効果を得ることができた。また、微生物群集構造について解析した結果、アナモックス細菌とアンモニア酸化細菌は優占菌群であったことが分かった。なお、本研究のような一槽式HAP-PNAプロセスでは、HAP形成によるアナモックス細菌保持効果が重要なので、必要に応じてカルシウムの投入によるHAPの形成促進が必要であることが明らかになった。
以上のような実験的結果を踏まえ、関連論文と比較して考察し、英文論文を2本発表できた。
