Outline of Research at the Start

ヒトは、日常動作から複雑なスポーツ動作に至るまで、四肢を協調させて動作を遂行している。この四肢協調に関わる脳・神経の活動は様々報告されているものの、スポーツの勝敗に関わるような四肢協調の巧拙に関わる脳・神経の活動については未だ明らかにされていない。
本研究では、協調運動課題の巧拙の違いによる、脳活動の違いを脳波測定から検証する。得られた脳活動の差異から、四肢協調の巧拙に関わる脳・神経の活動を明らかにする。さらに、経頭蓋交流電気刺激 (tACS) による介入を行うことで、脳活動と協調運動の巧拙の因果関係を明確にするとともに、リハビリテーションやトレーニングにおける神経学的介入の可能性を探る。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は、運動に不可欠な要素である上肢と下肢の協調について、その神経基盤の解明を目的とした。前年度までの研究により、上肢の運動中に安静時の下肢の感覚運動制御を司る脊髄反射路(Kato et al., 2019)・皮質脊髄路(Kato et al., 2022)・体性感覚情報処理(Kato et al., 2022)・感覚運動統合(Kato et al., 2023)が変調することが明らかとなった。これらは、上-下肢協調のために上肢と下肢間で運動に伴う神経相互作用がなされていることを示唆する。しかし、これらの研究結果は上肢と下肢を実際に協調させている際の神経活動ではない。そこで本年度は、前年度に作成した上肢と下肢を協調させる運動課題を用いて、実際の上-下肢協調運動中の脳活動に迫った。
参加者は、右手関節屈曲と右足関節背屈で画面上のカーソルを制御し、白線に沿って動くターゲットの円の中にできるだけカーソルを入れ続けることが求められた。課題成績はカーソルとターゲットの間の距離をエラーとして評価した。課題の序盤はエラーが多かったものの、徐々に減少し、課題終盤ではエラーの減少はあまりみられなかった。この課題中に脳波を計測し、課題成績との相関を調べたところ、序盤に対側感覚運動野のθ帯(4-8 Hz)のパワースペクトル密度が高い人ほど課題の学習スピードが速いことが明らかとなった。したがって、対側感覚運動野のθ帯のパワーが上-下肢協調能力の獲得に重要な役割を果たすことが示唆された。非侵襲的脳刺激法を用いて学習中の対側感覚運動野のθ帯のパワーを高めれば、上-下肢協調能力のトレーニングやリハビリテーションを補助できる可能性があることが明らかとなった。
