Outline of Research at the Start

急速な情報トラフィックの増大を支える技術として空間モード分割多重通信と呼ばれる新たな技術が注目を集めるが,本技術の実現には低コストかつスケーラブルな光モード間クロストークを分解する"光MIMO"技術が求められる.本研究は光集積回路による光MIMO処理素子を実現することによって低消費電力かつ大容量な次世代光通信シ
ステムの構築に寄与することを目指す.目標とする様々な光学素子を集積した光ユニタリ変換器を使用することができれば,コンパクトかつ低消費電力な通信インフラを実現できる.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では,コンパクトかつ低消費電力な光集積回路を用いた光Multi-InputMulti-Output(MIMO)技術の確立と次世代大容量光通信システムの創出を目指す.
今年度は昨年度目標としていた通信用偏波多重分離器を集積した光素子の実証へ取り組む.ファイバー内では直交した偏波モードを用いて,情報の多重化を行う.また本研究の最終目標としている大容量伝送実験に向けてファイバアレイを用いて素子へ多重化信号を実際に入射し,多モードファイバー内で不可避的に発生する信号クロストークを提案素子を用いて補償することで,全光MIMO処理の実証を目指した.結果,無事300Gビット毎秒の信号伝送に成功した.
昨年度までに作成した偏波多重化・分離機構を兼ね備えた光ユニタリ変換器によるモード分解処理による光MIMO伝送系の構築を行った.伝送系の構築・信号の作成・モード分解処理の実証の順に行った.偏波多重器などの光学素子を購入し系を構築した.特に,多モードファイバとシングルモードファイバーを結合するフォトニックランターンと呼ばれる特殊光学素子を購入し,偏波多重IQ変調信号を作成する系を作る.次にこの系を用いてQPSK(4値位相変調)信号の作成を行った.結果,25GHzのQPSK信号を生成した.本信号を用いて6モード多重を行い,光ユニタリ変換器によるモード分離に成功した.本成果は光通信に関する国際会議にて口頭発表を行い,学生優秀賞を受賞した.
