本研究の目標は，戦争のような大規模な集団間闘争が，ヒトの道徳性の進化にとってどのように影響してきたか（あるいはしてこなかったか）という問いについて，主に考古学，人類学，生物学（霊長類学），心理学における関連研究を調査・検討して総合的結論を得た上で，その哲学的な含意を探ることである．
