フーゴー・リーマンは、現代の和声理論の礎を築いたドイツの音楽理論家である。本研究は、リーマンの和声理論における学際性と、今日に至る影響力の要因の一端を明らかにする。具体的には、リーマン生前の音楽理論と音響物理学・音響心理学との関連、リーマンの音楽理論が英語・フランス語圏に受容される際に生じた変容、日本に和声学が導入される黎明期におけるリーマンの音楽理論の位置づけ、という3点から受容史を編み直す。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Hugo Riemann (1849-1919) is a music theorist who founded the modern theory of harmony based on the functions. Recently, scholars in the Western as well as the Asian countries have become more interested in his theory of harmony and its receptions. In this context, this study aimed to elucidate the interdisciplinarity in Riemann's harmony of theory and its influence to the present day. In particular, this study reconstructed the reception history on Riemann from three perspectives: 1. the transformations observed in the reception of Riemann's harmony theory into English- and French-speaking areas, 2. the relationship between his music theory and Tonphysiologie/Tonpsychologie in his lifetime, and 3. how his theory of harmony was received among other texts on Waseigaku in modern Japan.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
第一に、音楽理論という、日本では専門家の少ない分野に従事し、昨今重視されている「学際性」が19世紀後半から20世紀前半にかけてどのような特徴を有していたのかを明らかにした点に意義がある。我が国で近年高まりつつある音楽理論への関心に歴史的視点を付与することは、音楽研究が今後発展するための一助となる。
第二に、研究協力者らと連携して、フランス語圏とドイツ語圏、近代日本の受容を合わせみることによって、和声諸概念の変容のグローバルな動態の一端が浮き彫りになった点に意義がある。これにより、これまで各国個別に論じられる傾向にあった音楽理論史の方法に一石を投じることができた。
