| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は、戦後の変容する沖縄社会をカメラとペンで記録した阿波根昌鴻（平和運動家）と比嘉康雄（写真家）を対象に、写真という「表現活動」の背景にある彼らの〈沖縄経験〉に焦点を当て、戦後沖縄写真の特質の一端を明らかにすることを目的とする。研究の遂行にあたり、二人の撮影メモや日記、手紙などの関連資料をアーカイブズ資源と位置づけ、その内容分析から、〈沖縄経験〉がどのように「表現活動」と結びついたかを検証する。近年、アーティストと市民が一体となったアート・プロジェクトが盛んに展開される沖縄で、本土と異なる地域固有の表現に着目した本研究は、今なお沖縄に横たわる諸問題に対する理解の深化に寄与するものである。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Purpose of this research is that will define the post war Okinawan Photography is very important media: and archive the documents of the post war Okinawan peoples thought.
Results of this studies are (1) Archives of documents of Okinawan photo and people intellectual history: (2) Reading a paper of the post war Okinawan photo at the meeting of Society, and Publishing the dissertation: (3) Reporting the article of Okinawan photo in okinawan newspapers, and Participation to project of exhibition of Okinawan photo.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
戦後の沖縄写真史において、比嘉康雄は写真家として認められているが、阿波根昌鴻は、未だ写真家としては認められてこなかった。従来は比嘉と阿波根との関わりには注目されてこなかったけれども、本研究によって、両者の関連が明らかとなり、その写真及び思想の関連性について論じることができるようになった。また、阿波根の資料の中で写真ネガを整理・保存することによって、そのプリントを活用することができるようになり、これをデジタル化し、プリントを展示する展覧会を複数回実施することができるようになったのも、大きな成果である。近年、阿波根が写真家として広く県内外で認知されるようになってきたのは、大きな社会的意義がある。
