Outline of Research at the Start

藤原定家の和歌を主題とした十二ヶ月和歌花鳥図は、和歌が成立した１３世紀前半以降、１７世紀初頭に徳川幕府が実権を確立する前後まで実作例の報告はない。古典文学の絵画化において特異な状況であるにもかかわらずその要因は明確でなく、画題としての位置づけは曖昧である。一方、現存作例の制作時期や背景の考察からは、鍵は江戸時代前期の公武関係と、朝廷周辺での文学活動にあると考えられる。本研究では、これまでの研究に加え、絵画史の枠を超えて江戸時代前期を俯瞰する視点から同時代の絵画作例や記録等の一次資料の考察を積み重ね、江戸時代前期における「定家詠十二ヶ月和歌花鳥図」の展開について本質的な解明を目指す。
