Outline of Research at the Start |

Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In SV sentences, V shows richer agreement with S (e.g. I am here), whereas V in VS sentences tends to show poorer agreement with S (e.g. There is me). This kind of agreement asymmetry is observed in a wide variety of languages in the world. The author proposed a theory of agreement to explain agreement asymmetries observed in English, Arabic and Welsh. In this project, I have refined the theory and accounted for agreement asymmetries observed in French, Italian and Icelandic.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
"I am here."や"We are here." ではbe動詞が主語の人称・数に合わせて(一致して)am, areとなるが, "There is me."や "There are us."
