| Outline of Research at the Start |
Speaking技能評価ツールの開発を目的に、発話と英語でのやり取りを動画撮影、そのデータをLearning Management System (LMS)に格納、これを第三者である評価者が評価することで客観的かつ形成的な評価を可能にする。統一的な評価に資するCAN-DOルーブリックを作成し、格納された動画を使用して被験者の英語Speaking技能の測定を簡易かつ標準化する方法を開発する。客観的に測定するための会話のテーマ設定、動画撮影・LMSへのストレージ、評価指標としてのルーブリックの開発、標準化された客観的評価のための評価者と英語面接の対話者トレーニング方法の一括した開発を目指す。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study targets Japanese university students. The goals are (1) to develop and test evaluation criteria for objectively evaluating the ability to communicate in English, and (2) to develop a method for objective evaluation of skills by third-party evaluators according to the evaluation criteria. It is the construction of a prototype of a system that utilizes IT technology.
Most of the speaking tests that have been conducted so far have been mainly knowledge-based "English conversation ability tests" in which the examiner asks the subject to speak in English. On the other hand, this demonstration experiment is the construction of a system that will be the first step towards the development of a test that will determine the extent to which a person can communicate naturally with a conversation partner by demonstrating their own English conversation skills.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
英語能力試験は多く存在するが、その多くは受動的な能力判定が中心であるため、試験で高得点を獲得しても実際の英語でのやりとりはできないという事例が多くみられる。英語を使用する目的と能力判定の基準にずれがあることに起因している。現在使用されているSpeakingテストも、試験官の問いに対して英語で適切に返答できるかどうかが判定基準となっており、何か目的を持った話し合いの中でのやりとりの能力を判定する構成にはなっていない。本研究は実際に自分の持つ英語コミュニケーション能力でどの程度の用が足りるのか（何ができるのか）を客観的に見える化することに社会的意義がある。
