本研究は近年ミュージアムで導入が進む収蔵展示を対象とする。収蔵展示は、従来、ミュージアムにおいて厳格に管理者の領域にあったコレクション「保存」の現場を、展示を通じて「活用（公開）」へとひらく取り組みである。本研究ではこれを＜「保存」と「活用」をめぐる越境的実践＞と位置付ける。本研究の目的の一点目は日本国内の事例を中心に、研究の蓄積が少ない収蔵展示について、その総合的把握を行うことである。二点目は収蔵展示の導入が進むなかで＜「保存」と「活用」をめぐる越境的実践＞が、「文化財概念」にいかなる変化をもたらすのかを明らかにすることである。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
A basic comprehensive survey was conducted on visible storages, which have not been the subject of a coherent study in Japan. The methods used were mainly a literature survey, on-site surveys of introducing museums and interviews with curators. The main results were the publication of basic data on the museums that have introduced visible storages, the categorization of visible storages and the presentation of conceptual rules, the identification of the characteristics of the exhibition techniques of each type, and the clarification of the significance of visible storages in relation to recent policies related to cultural heritage in Japan.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
国内の主要な人文系ミュージアムを対象に実施した収蔵展示に関わる調査データを公開し、今後の研究における基礎資料の提供に寄与できた。また多様な様相を呈する収蔵庫公開事例について類型化と各特徴を整理したことで、今後の事例把握の基準を示すことが出来た。さらに文化財をめぐる国の施策を「保存と活用の好循環」の視点から捉えることで収蔵展示が有する「保存と活用の越境的実践」との共通性を指摘した。この点は、今後、国民的財産という理念的価値を有する文化財（ミュージアムコレクション）を、市民参画型の持続可能な保護体制のもとで未来に継承するための諸条件を明らかにするという次の研究課題を導き出すことにもつながった。
