Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、活発な対流活動を通して大規模大気循環の熱源として働く、インドネシア海大陸域のモンスーン降水変動（季節変化及び経年変動）について、統合的な気象観測データセットを構築し、気候学的な動態把握を行うことを目的とする。特に、乾季から雨季への遷移期（モンスーンオンセット期）に焦点を当て、熱帯域の主要な対流季節内変動の一つであるマッデン・ジュリアン振動（MJO）が、大規模島嶼沿岸域で卓越する対流日変化との相互作用を通して、モンスーンオンセットへ与える影響を評価し、海大陸域のモンスーンオンセットメカニズムの解明を目指す。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究課題においては、インドネシア海大陸域のモンスーン季節進行に伴う雨季の地理的分布・変動の気候学的特徴について、季節内変動または日変化を解像できる高時間・空間分解能の統合的な海大陸域気象観測データセットを構築し、明らかにすることを目的としている。その上で、気候変動の影響が強く表れると考えられる、乾季と雨季の遷移期（モンスーンオンセット期）に焦点を当て、モンスーンのオンセットや、雨季の入りの経年変動の実態把握を行うとともに、マッデン・ジュリアン振動（MJO）が海大陸域の大規模島嶼周辺の局地循環に伴う対流日変化と相互作用し、モンスーンオンセットに与える影響評価を通して、海大陸域のモンスーンオンセットメカニズムの解明を目指す。

昨年度に引き続き、研究対象地域のインドネシアへの訪問を実施できず、現地でのデータ収集を十分に行えなかったため、これまでに入手済の現地気象局による日地上気象観測データを中心に、取得データの整理・品質管理を実施し、海大陸域のモンスーン季節進行の解析に必要な「海大陸域長期日気象観測データセット」の構築を進めた。その上で、海大陸域のモンスーン季節進行、及びモンスーンオンセットの経年変動について、気候学的な解析を進めた。また、取得済のワシントン大学による全球落雷観測網（WWLLN: World Wide Lightning Location Network）データを基に、海大陸域における雷活動（積雲対流活動）や降水特性の季節進行について、並行して解析を進めた。また、ジャカルタ首都圏の降水特性の季節内変動、及び日変化の地域性について、昨年度までに得られた結果（Lestari et al, 2022, Mon. Wea. Rev. 他）を発展させ、モンスーンオンセットに与えるMJOと大規模島嶼周辺の局地循環との相互作用の影響評価を実施するため、現地気象レーダー観測データセットの構築を進めた。

Reason

研究対象地域であるインドネシアへの直接訪問を実施できず、気象観測資料の収集、及びデータベース化が、当初計画ほど進捗できなかったため（入手済のデータ整理や、解析作業を主に実施することで対応）。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

これまでに引き続き、気象観測データセットの構築を進め、海大陸域のモンスーン降水季節変化、及びモンスーンオンセットの経年変動に関する気候学的解析を実施する。その上で、課題最終年度として、海大陸域のモンスーンオンセットメカニズムについて、研究成果を取りまとめるとともに、今後の研究計画立案に向け、現地研究協力者との議論を進める。
