本研究は、SDGs(持続可能な開発目標)への指向を有している地域を取り上げて、いかに、こうした地域が内外の諸主体間での相互の連携・協働によって、グローバルおよびローカルな諸問題に対処しながら、 新たな機会創出が生み出し、地域イノベーションに結びつけようとしているかを地域間の相対比較を通じて明らかにするものである。この目的のために、本研究では複数の地域を選定し、地域間の対比の上でSDGsを指向した地域経済社会の創造的発展の可能性を議論する。

This study, which focuses on regions that advocate for a sustainable development orientation or are deemed to be implementing similar initiatives, reveals through comparative analysis how these regions are addressing global and local issues through mutual coordination and collaboration among various actors under shared sustainability values. It also highlights how they are creating new opportunities and driving regional innovations.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究は、人文地理学・経済地理学のなかでも、制度・文化・ネットワーク的視点に基づいた産業集積論を応用した地域経済研究・地域政策研究の系譜に位置づけることができる。2000年代初頭に始まった持続可能な開発のための教育（ESD）の運動は、学校教育の現場のみならず一部地域では社会教育、さらには地域づくりの担い手の育成にも大きな役割を果たした。本研究で示したことは、持続可能性という価値観を、地域を取り巻く主体間で共有して協働することが、地域経済社会の行く末にポジティブな影響を与えるということである。
